Bareback & Bridleless Memories

My super duper friend Laura suggested that before Aladdin leaves me we should have a photo shoot..
I kind of shrugged the idea off to start with due to the fact I am generally the other side of the camera but Laura was 100% right, if I didn’t have some done I would always regret it. We were just going to go with some casual schooling photos in the big outdoor school. Our matchy-matchy was on point with; turquoise hatsilk, neck rope, numnah, browband and top.
Once Laura started clicking away and making me laugh I relaxed and loved every moment of it, I just forgot about the camera and had a blast on Aladdin whilst chatting away with Laura. Of course to start with we went for the typical arms in the air cantering photos. The more fun we had the braver (stupider) I got. After warming Aladdin up I said to Laura that I was going to slip my bridle off… She asked if we had done it before to which I replied ‘nope’. My cow pony will always stop it was just his steering I doubted. As soon as his bridle was off my doubts were confirmed and he was flitting about the school like a headless chicken, all I could do was sit and laugh. When I drop my reins we dont generally have steering issues as he goes off my legs and my weight but the whole being completely naked thing must have rather excited him!
He looked so handsome and striking without his bridle on and other than a few near fence squishes I loved how free we both felt.
Then for the trusty bareback pad, I did make a slightly ‘adult’ decision and put the bridle back on for this. I chucked his saddle on the fence and went to clamber on his back using a wooden box, somehow my clumsy feet slipped as I went to jump and I ended up slipping and falling underneath Aladdin, its a good job he’s used to my waffy ways. The bareback pad was a Christmas present from my Mum and I really love it however Ive not had big enough lady balls to ride in it a lot. The previous night was our first time cantering in it and I felt like a lump of jelly sat on a washing machine. Laura reassured me that if we had any you’ve been framed moments she would carry on clicking regardless of me making sand angels. However something clicked and I got the right balance of being relaxed yet strong enough in my core to feel stable. Once again I felt free and was absolutely loving it!
Next Laura convinced me to do something I had previously completely dismissed… I was in a dress! It may have been a denim dress but still I was in a dress. She turned me upside down scrunched my unbrushed mane about and chucked me back onboard. My equestrian milk bottles were blinding (sunglasses required before viewing the photos). We tootled about on the grass in front of the woods and had a few trots up the pathways. The whole thing was generally just so fun and we both were so relaxed.
Of course there were a few gazillion out takes of me gritting my teeth, pulling some ‘holy crap’ faces and flashing my Bridget Jones knickers but the images Laura did get of us messing around and well just being us I will treasure forever.
